Our Core Focus
We are Uplifting underserved populations, closing the opportunity disparity, and shaping a brighter future for the youths.
In rural African communities, access to quality education and critical skills remains limited. Our findings show a harsh truth: only 10% of young people in these regions possess the education and skills needed to foster meaningful change in their communities and build their own futures. This educational shortfall has far-reaching consequences beyond the classroom. The World Bank (2023) notes that insufficient learning during school years often leads to inadequate workforce skills, stunting economic progress and development. In Sub-Saharan Africa, learning poverty remains a significant challenge, impacting nearly 90% of children. A recent UNICEF report highlights that 70% of 10-year-olds in Nigeria lack basic reading and comprehension skills, underscoring the urgent need for targeted interventions.
The extent of this educational crisis is overwhelming: UNESCO estimates that 272 million children and youth aged 6 to 17 were out of school globally in 2023, with projections indicating a further rise to 285 million when accounting for crisis impacts. In Nigeria, USAID-supported initiatives highlight that approximately 18.3 million children lacked access to schooling as of late 2024, exacerbating vulnerabilities in conflict-affected regions.
These issues are exacerbated by inadequate facilities in marginalized areas and educational institutions, which impede learners’ acquisition of key 21st-century and foundational skills. Lacking adequate infrastructure and supplies, countless young students find themselves unequipped to navigate the demands of a dynamic global landscape.
At YAGYDI, we hold firm to the principle that every child deserves high-quality education and the freedom to unlock their full potential. Utilizing a hybrid instructional framework, we offer in-depth leadership and vocational guidance programs that arm beneficiaries with the competencies essential to forging rewarding professional trajectories. Our dedication lies in cultivating self-reliance among marginalized groups, grounded in the assurance that all people merit the platform to fulfil their loftiest ambitions. Through cultivating emerging leaders and specialists, we endeavour to forge an optimistic horizon for future cohorts.
